Sling Inc. ("Sling", "we", or "us") is the developer and operator of the TestGenie application (the "App" or "Service"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and complying with applicable U.S. privacy laws. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, share, and protect your information when you use TestGenie. By using the App, you agree to the practices outlined in this Policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the Service.

Information We Collect

We collect various types of information from and about users of TestGenie, including:

• Personal Identifiers: Information you provide when creating an account or profile, such as your name, email address, username, or other contact details.
• Usage and Learning Data: Data about your use of the App’s features, including handwriting data (e.g. digital pen input or notes you write in the App), your learning history (such as completed lessons, quizzes, scores, and progress), problem-solving time and patterns (how long you take to solve problems or answer questions), and other metrics related to your study or practice habits.
• Device and Technical Information: Information about your device and app usage, like device type, operating system, browser type (if using a web version), IP address, unique device identifiers, and crash logs. We may also collect cookies or use similar tracking technologies in the App or related website to gather usage analytics.
• User-Generated Content: Any content you input, upload, or submit within the App, such as answers to practice questions, notes, images of handwritten work, or feedback. This includes any content generated through our AI features or virtual tutor – for example, if the App’s AI generates a hint, explanation, or other educational content during your use, we collect that interaction data.
• Children’s Data: If we learn that a user is a child under 13, we may collect a parent or guardian’s email address to seek verifiable consent, as required by COPPA (Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act). We do not require a child to provide more personal information than is reasonably necessary to use the App. (See Children’s Privacy below for more information.)

We may collect this information directly from you (for instance, when you register or actively use a feature) or automatically through your interaction with the Service (for instance, via analytics software within the App). All of the data listed above may be associated with your account ID for our internal purposes.

How We Use Your Information

Sling Inc. uses the collected information for a variety of legitimate business and operational purposes, including:

1. Providing and Improving the Service: We use your data to operate TestGenie’s core functions and personalize your experience. For example, your handwriting and problem-solving data help us improve recognition accuracy and adapt content difficulty to your skill level. Learning history and performance metrics are used to provide feedback, recommend next exercises, and generally improve our educational services and user experience. This information also helps us debug issues and develop new features to better serve you.
2. Research and Development: Your data (especially aggregated and anonymized data from many users) is invaluable for our research into learning methods and AI algorithms. We analyze usage patterns, learning outcomes, and timing information to gain insights into how users learn and where they struggle. This research may be used internally to enhance TestGenie and may also contribute to broader educational or AI development projects. In some cases we may publish findings or reports, but any such publication would use only anonymized, non-identifiable information.
3. Commercial and Business Purposes: We may use your information for purposes of commercial advantage and monetization of our services. This includes activities such as marketing, advertising, and generating business insights. For example, we might use your usage data to show you tailored content or recommendations for premium features or new products from Sling. We may also develop aggregate statistics about our user base that we can use to promote TestGenie or to inform partners about how our users engage with the App.
4. Anonymized Data Uses: We expressly reserve the right to anonymize or de-identify personal data (removing or altering information that identifies you personally) and use or sell these aggregated insights to third parties. The anonymized data might be used for purposes like academic research, analytics, marketing industry reports, or to improve other educational products. Importantly, when we anonymize data, we employ measures to ensure that the data cannot be reasonably re-identified to any individual user, protecting your privacy while allowing valuable insights to be shared.
5. Communications: We use contact information (like your email) to send service-related announcements, updates about TestGenie’s features, and respond to your customer support inquiries. If you agree or if allowed by law, we may also send marketing communications, such as newsletters or offers. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time by following the opt-out instructions in those emails (though you will continue to receive transactional or necessary service communications).
6. Legal Compliance and Security: We may use your data to enforce our Terms of Service and other agreements, to prevent fraud, cheating, or misuse of the App, and to ensure the integrity and security of our platform. If necessary, we will use and disclose information to comply with legal obligations, such as responding to lawful requests by public authorities or court orders.
